Growing up in Indiana, I was immersed in the world of real estate and DIY home renovations from an early age. With parents who were avid DIY enthusiasts, our household was always buzzing with projects, sparking my interest in the art of construction and design.
After completing my studies in Environmental Science at Purdue University, I embarked on a journey to pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship and owning my own construction business.
I was drawn to the natural beauty and vibrant community of Traverse City, Michigan, and after 11 years of working and living in Arizona, I decided to make the move up north and continue to pursue my building career here.
Outside of work, I am an avid outdoor enthusiast, finding joy in activities like running, cycling, and exploring nature with my faithful canine companion. My passion for solving problems and connecting with people allows me to approach construction projects with a fresh perspective and innovative solutions.
Equipped with a master’s degree in business from Arizona State University and experience working for the US Green Building Council, I bring a blend of business acumen and expertise in sustainable construction practices to every project. My understanding of building science ensures that each structure we build is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also energy-efficient and environmentally conscious.

John Marek has been a licensed residential builder in MI since 2003 with a focus on building science & performance, as well as historic remodels. John was on the team that built the first LEED v4 home in MI, and he has also successfully completed over 30 other LEED certified homes during his career. John is a lifelong musician and LOVES being outdoors as well, canoeing, camping and hiking.
Interior Design
Jessica Mateusiak is an interior designer with a background in fashion and has been working as a design professional for over 7 years. She graduated with a BFA from FIT in New York and earned her certification in interior design at Parsons School of Design | The New School. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and drinking wine with her family, who are local grape growers.
